Welcome To GrayWorks Technologies

Legacy Application and ColdFusion Modernization

Gray-Works maintains and modernizes legacy web applications, including ColdFusion, older PHP and .NET systems, in stages rather than forcing a rewrite on day one. We stabilize what you run today, then replace the riskiest parts first, so the business keeps working while the technology moves forward.

ColdFusion, PHP and C#/.NET are part of our everyday stack, and we support long-running client platforms for years, including PAL Technologies since 2004.

Maintain, secure, then modernize

Most legacy applications still do important work; the risk is in the parts nobody can safely change. Our approach has three stages.

1. Stabilize and secure

We review the code, servers and dependencies, fix urgent issues, put the application under version control and backups, and document how it works.

2. Modernize in stages

We replace the riskiest or most limiting parts first, often by adding an API in front of the old system and building new screens or services against it, so users see steady improvement instead of a single big launch.

3. Move to modern hosting

When it makes sense, we move the application to modern containerized hosting or to the cloud, such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, with managed IT support afterwards if you want it.

ColdFusion development and support

We maintain ColdFusion and PHP expertise for organizations with existing investments in these platforms. That means we can keep a ColdFusion application running and secure, add features to it, and plan a move to a newer stack only when the case is clear.

When to modernize and when to rewrite

Rewrite when the application is small, its rules are well understood and the old code cannot be safely changed. Modernize in stages when the application is large, carries years of business rules, or cannot go offline. For most long-running systems, staged modernization carries less risk.

How a modernization project starts

It starts with a free consultation, then a review of the application and a modernization roadmap that sets out what to stabilize, what to replace and in what order. Delivery runs in agile two-week sprints, so you see progress throughout.

Yes. We migrate applications to modern hosting, including AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, once the application is stable and documented.

We choose the target stack for each project from technologies such as C#/.NET, Java, JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular and Node.js, and Python, based on your team and the systems you need to connect.
